You have to give back to your community. Life is a big circle and you only get out of it what you put in. Giving to others is the path to joy and contentment. You get back so much more than what you put in. Knitting is so personal and the results so rewarding that you must share them with others. Giving from the heart starts out as one thing, but quickly becomes another. The rewards are immense and the friendships made along the way enrich all who participate, whether on the giving or the receiving end. Please help others in anyway you can. My way just happens to be knitting! The WhitneyKnitter!

Hallelujah! I am building my life around those same thoughts and feel stronger because these ideas. Humans caring and taking care of each other and the world around them – it is the essence of being human. Thank you for putting the ‘humane’ back into ‘human’
Knitting is a big part of my way, too – http://keepinglanarkkidswarm.blogspot.com/

How would “one” get started knitting afgans for Habitat for Humanity? I/We have been long time supporters of this incredible organization, indeed my daughter walked across the south from Americus, GA to St. Louis MO over the summer of 1985 to help raise funds… it was a wonderful group and she walked with Millard and Linda Fuller and their daughter, Georgia and the Carters… she was only 15 years old and spent a summer walking along the side of roads because this was the first time she was able to “help” all by herself… its one of the things she looks back on and still holds dear to her heart…
But, to get back to it, how does one get started knitting afgans to donate to Habitat? Is it an organized project?
